Epitomizing the adage "experience is the best teacher," the center focuses on reinforcing the basic skills learned in the classroom as well as providing "real life" opportunities for students to study the natural environment.

Owned and operated by Prince George's County Public Schools, the 450 acre site is located on Route 381 about 9 miles southeast of Brandywine, Maryland.

The center provides direct performance based instruction that reflects the outcomes and indicators put forth in the Maryland Content Standards. In addition, the center addresses the goals and objectives of the Maryland State Department of Education Environmental Education Bylaw (13A.04.17.01-04; Annotated Code of Maryland).
