Testing In Maryland

Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has a set developed standards that identify the essential skills and knowledge students need to know and be able to do. The PK-8 standards cover a large set of content areas including: Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health & PE, Foreign Language, ELP, and Technology Education. The Voluntary State Curriculum (VSC) is the document that identifies the Maryland Content Standards and aligns them with the Maryland Assessment Program.
 

MSDE has a set developed standards that identify the essential skills and knowledge students need to know and be able to do in Grades 9-12. The standards cover a large set of content areas including: Algebra/Data Analysis, Government, Biology, English. The Core Learning Goals for these four courses define what students need to know and to do each assessment:

Maryland School Assessment

High School Assessment

The Maryland School Assessment (MSA) is a test of reading, math, and science achievement. The reading and mathematics tests are administered annually to students in grades 3 through 8. The science test is administered annually in grades 5 and 8.

The Maryland High School Assessments (HSA) are tests that measure school and individual student progress toward Maryland's High School Core Learning Goals in in English, Government, Algebra/Data Analysis, and Biology.
