Ms. Marvel L. Smith, Principal

Dear Parent/Guardians:

Happy New Year that is school year!!  We are happy to have our Dolphins back.  Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful summer break.  It is time now to get focused, because time is of the essence.

We are pleased to announce that once again, the Dolphins did a great job on the Maryland State Examination for 2006.  We are ranked fourth in the county for Reading and fifth for mathematics.  The Dolphins are on a roll and we must continue to encourage them to do their best.

We welcome the new staff members to Seabrook and the ESOL program.  This promises to be a stellar year once again.  We had a great opening of school and a fantastic Back to School Night.

During the Back to School Night, Councilman Thomas Hendershot presented us a $2000 check for special programs for our students.

We have begun our fall fundraiser.  Again we are selling Claire’s Gourmet food products.  Your child should have brought home brochures so that you might see and help with our fundraiser.  All orders and money are due by September 26th.  The orders will be ready for pickup on October 17th.  Please help us!

You will be receiving progress reports weekly.  Please stay on top of this situation.  We will additionally have a drawing from the group of students who have perfect attendance (no tardies or absences), at the end of each month.

This is one way we use to encourage students to be here daily.

The safety of our children is of the utmost importance.  The State of

Maryland has shared these websites with me regarding sex offenders.  I have been

asked to share them with you.  They are as follows:

www.dpscs.state.md.us/onlineservs/sor/

Amber Alert – www.wirelessamberalerts.org

On September the 30th at Roosevelt High School there will be a Comer Retreat.  We are a Comer School and would like more parents to understand this program.  Please join us there.  Call 301-918-8542 find out more about registration.  Come and go with us to represent Seabrook.

Please read the remainder of the newsletter.  We greatly appreciate your continued support.
