IDENTIFICATION PROCEDURES

Students are identified for inclusion in the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program following specific procedures. Several basic concepts are incorporated in the identification procedures including:

  • global screening - all students are considered
  • multiple criteria - selection for the TAG Program is based on assessment of a variety of objective and subjective factors
  • multiple opportunities - students are automatically screened in grades one and three
  • committee decision - placement decisions are made by a group of professionals who evaluate all available data
It is the goal of Prince George's County Public Schools to identify students for the TAG Program in such a manner that the composition of the TAG population reflects the multi-cultural composition of the general population.
