Second Annual Parent Involvement Conference
April 21, 2008

Title 1 has a parent involvement mission which is designed to:

  • Ensure effective involvement of parents.
  • Support a partnership among schools, parents, and communities.
  • Improve student achievement.

A comprehensive plan devised to assist parents in becoming involved in the education of their children consists of the following components:

Home/SchoolCompact - Title 1 schools work with parents to develop compacts that define both school and home responsibilities for improving student achievement. Compacts strengthen school and family partnerships and promote coordination between school and home.  The home/school compact helps to ensure students achieve the state's high standards.

Mobile Activity Center - The Title 1 program utilizes a mobile activity center to assist in reaching families in their communities. This mobile activity center will visit communities on a scheduled basis, providing educational training for parents and children. The mobile activity center will operate evenings, weekends and summer months.
Parent Training - Parents are encouraged to participate in Title 1 sponsored workshops. Training, materials and recommendations will be provided for parents to help them work more effectively with their children at home.
