The
mission of the Mathematics Department at Thomas Johnson Middle School
is to help our students build the foundation necessary for them to be
successful in higer level mathematics through high school and college.
At the 7th grade we offer math courses ranging from Ramp Up to Mathematics
through Algebra Data Analysis. Eight grade courses span from Ramp Up to
Algebra 1 through Geometry.
The Ramp Up Courses by America's Choice is a one-year course that targets
those students that are 2-3 years below grade level. After completing
those courses the student should be ready to perform at grade level mathematically.
Thomas Johnson offers three math courses for which the students receive
high school graduation credits - Algebra Data Analysis, Algebra 1, and
Geometry. Students taking those courses are expected to pass Maryland's
High School Assessment (HSA) in Algebra while in middle school.
