Students in front of a mural of President Obama

Walker Mill students created art exhibits that highlighted significant events in African and African American history culminating in the election of President Barack Obama. The picture above shows students in front of a mural of Barack Obama created by a local artist, Mr. Paul Miles. View some of the exhibits by clicking here.

Congratulations to Walker Mill's Debate Team.

The Debate team won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Urban Debate League competition on 10/24/09. For the first time in its history, Walker Mill established a debate team last year. They entered their first competition at the Lab School on 4759 Reservoir Road NW Washington, D. C. 20007. The team made a good showing under the successful leadership of Language Arts teacher Mr. Lewis.

Congratulations to Walker Mill's Write-A-Book Team

During the previous school year, they won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place under Ms. Goff's guidance in this county-wide competition. Below are pictures taken at the Write-A-Book Awards Ceremony in May 2009.
