The following picture shows Cherry Hill School that stood near Lottsford and Enterprise Roads.
The school bell in the belfry bears the following inscription:
Cherry Hill School was closed in 1919 and the bell was then transferred to Mullikin Elementary School, which was located near the bus lot on Mt. Oak Road. The bell continued to sound the opening of the school day and recess until a modern signal system was installed.
In 1964, Woodmore Elementary School opened as a replacement for the Mullikin School, which became a center for Kindergarten. The Cherry Hill school bell was reconditioned by the Prince George's County School System's maintenance Department and placed on display at the end of the main entrance of Woodmore Elementary, where it remains to this day.
The last pictures show Sarah Townshend next to the school bell. She was a third grade student at Woodmore Elementary in 1964 and is the great-grand daughter of Grafton W. Townshend a trustee of the Cherry Hill School. Miss Helen Gaines, principal of Mullikin School and first principal of Woodmore is also pictured with Sarah.
