    IMPORTANT BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION

    • NEW SCHOOL HOURS & TRANSPORTATION - It is our pleasure to share that PGCPS is providing transportation for many of our students living in the Addison Road South area! As a result our school hours will be adjusted. As of September 3rd, 2019 John Bayne’s SCHOOL HOURS are 7:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. It is our hope that this transportation change will both improve student attendance rates and reduce traffic in the parking lot. If we don’t use it, we will lose it.

    • Kiss & Ride: Since the number of buses arriving daily will increase, only cars dropping off students will be allowed in the bus lane. During morning drop off be sure to enter the lane on the far right side and pull up as far as possible. Staff will be available to assist students to exit vehicles nearest the curb. Parents who wish to walk students in the building must park in designated parking areas.

    • Arrival & Dismissal: New hours of instruction are 7:30 a.m. - 1:40 p.m. Students may now enter the building at 7:15 a.m. Our morning show will begin promptly at 7:20. It is critical that students are present all day, every day. Students not in the classroom at 7:30 a.m. will be marked tardy. All early dismissals must be completed by 1:10 p.m. Only school staff are  permitted in the building from 1:20 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. Students in grades Pre-K, K and 1st grade may be signed out from the cafeteria beginning at 1:40 p.m. Late pick up begins at 1:50 p.m. Students picked up after 1:50 p.m. must be signed out from the main office.

    • Bus Schedules: The transportation office utilizes a computerized bus routing system to manage the transportation of students. If applicable, students will be assigned a bus to and from school. Bus schedules are mailed directly from the Prince George’s County Public Schools’ Department of Transportation. Students are expected to arrive 10 minutes prior to and remain 10 minutes after the time indicated.

    • 2nd Annual All White Open House: Be sure to attend our school-wide orientation to get all 1st day of school questions answered on August 29th at 11:30 a.m. Students will meet teachers and find their classrooms to ensure the 1st day of school runs as smoothly as possible.

    • School Visitors: Please note, all visitors must sign in at the main office upon arrival. This process must be followed every visit. A government-issued ID must be provided for scanning through our visitor management system, Raptor. The badge provided is worn for the entire school visit. All visitors must sign out and return their badge at the conclusion of the visit.

    • Parent Communication: We want to share the good news about John Bayne. Exciting news is posted on Facebook, Twitter and our school website. Robocalls are sent weekly. Be sure your home or cell number is current throughout the year Also be sure to check out the outside marquis for upcoming events.

    • Back to School Night: We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 10th at 6:00 p.m. Come out to learn about the school plan, classroom expectations and the great things happening at John Bayne.

    • PTO Membership: The PTO is under new leadership and has been working hard over the summer planning family engagement activities. We strongly encourage every family to become a member of our PTO.  Many volunteers are needed to make our PTO a success. For more information, please contact Mrs. Sheri Howard, President, at jbaynepto@yahoo.com.

    • School Supplies: Copies of the supply lists are at the school and will be posted on our website, www1.pgcps.org/johnhbayne/. A limited number of school supply packs are available through the school.
