  • A Message from Our Principal

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” —Seneca

    Dear Parents and Guardians:

My name is Dr. Wanda Williams and I am excited to serve as principal of Oxon Hill Elementary School! As we embark upon this year together, I am sure our students will acquire many social and academic successes.

This is the year of new beginnings and seizing all of the great possibilities that awaits the Oxon Hill Elementary School students, families, and staff alike! I would like to welcome our new students and say hello to our returning students. I hope you had a fantastic summer and are ready to embark upon a new year of learning. I’m sure you continued your learning over the summer so that you can be prepared for your next instructional level. Here at Oxon Hill Elementary the expectation is that students master the content taught at every grade level to ensure they are College and Career Ready. With this, educators have spent time in various professional development opportunities as well as collaborative partnerships as they prepare for students return.

The above quote resonated with me as I began the planning stages for the upcoming year. Change is sometimes hard but it is also inevitable. I am committed to the established Oxon Hill ES Creed and Oxon Hill ES Way. This directly aligns with the mission of ensuring students are made to feel important, expected to do well, engaged in challenging work, and supported. I will continue to focus on resounding instructional practices and constant data review to ensure teachers are maximizing instruction.

As I begin my ninth school year as an elementary school principal, I continue to be deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to meet them. By addressing school culture, focusing on literacy, setting high standards for teacher performance, and engaging the community, we believe the end result will be success for all.

Parents, we encourage you to join us throughout the school year in celebrating the many scholastic, academic and personal successes of our students.

    Dr. Wanda C. Williams
