    Middle School Preparation

    The AEAT Program looks at the grade point average from students' grades from English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies from all four quarter of seventh grade and the first quarter of eighth grade year for rising 9th graders.  Students' grades from English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies from from all four quarter of eighth grade and the first quarter of ninth grade year for rising 10th graders. 

    In addition to grade point average, the PSAT 8/9 is also used when determining eligibility for admission into the Science and Technology Program.  

    1. Work hard and get good grades in school.  
    2. Prepare for the PSAT 8/9 Exam: visit www.khanacademy.org/sat to prepare for the Science and Technology entrance exam. 
    3. Apply to the Science and Technology Program-If you are a non PGCPS student or a 9th grader, visit www.pgcps.org/testing to get the steps on how to apply for admission to the Science and Technology program. Make sure that you apply before the application window closes to be considered. The application window closes in November 2018.  Please Note: PGCPS students who are current 8th grade students, do not have to apply to be considered for admission.  
    4. Take the Entrance Exam. PSAT 8/9 testing will occur the first week of December. Students who have taken the PSAT 8/9 in the 2018/2019 school year at  your school prior to December 2018 should not sit for the test.  You have to submit your scores to test.scorerequests@pgcps.org. 
    5. All students who submit a completed application and take the entrance exam will receive written notification of their status via the mail in early March 2019.  PGCPS 8th grade students who take the entrance exam in December 2018 will also receive written notification via the mail about their eligibility early March 2019.
