    Prepare for the PSAT 8/9

Prince George’s County Public Schools will be sponsoring all students in the 8th grade to take the PSAT 8/9 during the school year. Please note that the PSAT 8/9 will be offered during the first week of December 2019, and it is important for your child to participate on the designated day identified for their school. All eighth-grade students are required to participate in this assessment. The test is also designed to reflect the work students are doing in the classroom.

    • The Preliminary SAT (PSAT 8/9) will be used as part of the entrance criteria for the Science and Technology Program. ALL PGCPS grade 8 students will be considered for the Science and Technology Program.
    • Testing will occur for grade 8 students the week of December 2-6, 2019 at their boundary school. 8th grade students currently enrolled in PGCPS DO NOT pay for the PSAT 8/9.
    • Non-PGCPS students who take the PSAT 8/9 at their private schools between September and November of 2019 may use these scores for the application.
    • Please Note: College Board regulations state that students may not sit for the PSAT 8/9 more than one time within a six-month time period.
    • Private school, home-schooled, and PGCPS grade 9 students who submit an application must register and pay to take the PSAT 8/9 assessment on December 7, 2019 if they do not take the test at their high school.
    • Prepare for the PSAT 8/9 using the free practice resources for later tests in the SAT Suite and to AP courses.
