From the beginning of the pandemic, your safety and the safety of our students has been my top priority as we navigate these unprecedented times. With the arrival of a COVID-19 vaccine, I am encouraging all of you to get vaccinated as a shield for your own health, your family’s well-being, and the safety of the children and families who we serve. I am pleased to share that the vaccine is now available in PGCPS, and I am writing now with details about how to sign up for one and where to receive it.
The school system is working in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Health Department and Kaiser Permanente on employee vaccinations. Starting next week, support staff will receive vaccinations by appointment only at Kaiser Permanente Lanham Rehabilitation Center in Lanham. This includes employees in Building Services, Food and Nutrition Services, Transportation and designated Information Technology staff.
Please note the following important information:
Kaiser Permanente Lanham Rehabilitation Center
4400 Forbes Blvd.
Lanham, MD 20706
The vaccination process is designed to serve you in an orderly manner. Although we originally anticipated three sites throughout the county, the new location provides better staffing support, vaccine storage as well as ample parking. With several thousand employees in need of vaccines, we expect to run vaccination clinics for approximately six to eight weeks. I ask for your patience and understanding over the next several weeks while we work to accommodate the demand.
As we enter this next phase, I know that you have many questions. I will host a virtual town hall meeting for employees on Thursday, January 28 at 6 p.m. to discuss the vaccination plans. Employees will automatically receive a phone call from the school system. If you do not receive a call, please contact 855-756-7520; 71409#. In addition, you can find a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) available online at https://www.pgcps.org/vaccine. Please utilize trusted information sources and visit the PGCPS website for the latest information.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the PGCPS community has shown that we are in this together. I appreciate your continued hard work, dedication and support.
