Under the direction of the Assistant Controller and School Activity Fund (SAF) Support Specialist, the technician is involved with operational activities related to the SAF, fixed assets and purchase cards (P-Cards). The job entails training, reporting and support for school bookkeepers; maintaining fixed assets (cost of > $5,000) by adding new assets, changing locations, and retiring assets; as well as assisting the Fraud Prevention Coordinator with tasks surrounding control of p-Cards. Positions in this class involve the performance of complex, fairly difficult and responsible tasks of a paraprofessional accounting nature.
The technician will work closely with school bookkeepers to ensure that accounting data in SchoolFunds Online (SFO) is accurate and up-to-date. The incumbent also enters transactional data into the Oracle Assets module, serves as backup for the Access Online Transactions Coordinator, and performs other duties as directed by the Assistant Controller. Work involves frequent contact with many schools, departments within the school system as well as outside organizations.
Associate's degree in accounting with three to five years of financial/business accounting experience preferred; or 15 semester hours of college level accounting courses and three to five years of financial/business accounting experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
