Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Recruitment Partner, the Recruitment Advisor – Special Education will support the district’s efforts in attracting and hiring the highest quality workforce.  The Recruitment Advisor will support the department’s efforts to develop and monitor a comprehensive strategic recruitment plan with particular focus on special educators and related service providers.  As part of this effort, the incumbent will collaborate with Human Resources Partners, and the Department of Special Education to implement and execute the vision and strategic plan focused on the recruitment of special educators.  Additionally, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for meeting established recruitment goals and objectives, recruitment metrics reporting, as well as supporting efforts to execute innovative recruitment initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies with a strong focus on the recruitment of special educators and related service providers;
  • Partners with key Human Resources and Special Education staff to support the development, execution, analysis and monitoring of recruitment initiatives and programs;
  • Establishes and maintains strong, positive working relationships with principals and other key central office staff to support the sourcing, assignment, onboarding and induction of special educators for a variety of positions;
  • Partners with the staffing and recruitment teams to effectively support the employee lifecycle to optimize recruitment, selection, hiring and onboarding efforts;
  • Partners with the Office of Professional Learning & Leadership to develop and foster programs to engage special educators and related service providers; participates in the development of and attends induction programs to nurture positive relationships with special educators and related service providers;
  • Supports the development, implementation, management and monitoring of both internal and external “grow your own” pipeline programs;
  • Establishes outreach and communication protocols and procedures to engage special educators and related service providers;
  • Tracks, collects and analyzes recruitment metrics to inform strategic planning efforts; develops reports and engages key stakeholders to support recruitment efforts; leverages technology to support recruitment and sourcing requirements and maintains up to date candidate information;
  • Leads, coordinates and cross-trains Human Resources staff and principals around best practices and the division’s recruitment programs and initiatives;
  • Supports the annual teacher and school leader hiring forecast process by providing valuable insight and data;
  • Develops and leads an annual declaration of intent process to collect educators’ and related service providers’ plans for the next school year; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Fully informed and knowledgeable of recruitment issues in K-12 organizations, specifically as they relate to special education and related service providers;
  • Ability to make data driven decisions; proficient in a variety of technologies for data collection and reporting (e.g. social media, Internet traffic, applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google applications);
  • Ability to travel locally, nationally and internationally - frequent travel required; ability to work a non-traditional work schedule;
  • Use of appropriate written, verbal or electronic communication formats to disseminate information;
  • Proficient in the use and application of cross-cultural communication skills;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, employees, outside agencies and the general public; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required in education, human resources, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field required; Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible human resources experience, with at least three (3) years specializing in recruitment programs in an educational setting; background in special education preferred.

Certification:

None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.

Additional Information:

Highly demanding and fast-paced environment; frequently required to work long hours and weekends.  Annual leave may be limited during specified timeframes.  Local and non-local travel is required.
