Position Summary:

New Position – Effective July 1, 2026

Under the direction of the Director of Student Access and Wellbeing, the Supervisor of Mental Health Programs leads and manages the district-wide mental health services functions, including oversight of clinicians, program development, policy implementation, compliance reporting and cross-agency partnerships. The incumbent of this position will provide strategic direction, supervision and evaluation of mental health programs to support student wellness, threat assessment, and crisis response frameworks within PGCPS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, supervision and performance management for mental health staff, clinicians and program teams;
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates district-wide mental health initiatives and supports;
  • Oversees behavior threat assessment protocols and crisis response systems, ensuring consistency with state and federal requirements;
  • Manages data collection, analysis, reporting and improvement plans related to mental health outcomes and compliance requirements;
  • Leads professional development and training for staff on suicide prevention, behavior intervention, trauma-informed practices and wellness strategies;    
  • Cultivates and maintains partnerships with local agencies, public health organizations and community providers to expand mental health services;
  • Oversee grants, budgets and resource allocation tied to mental health programming and services;
  • Serves as a district liaison for state and national mental health forums, committees and planning tables;
  • Reviews and monitors all required state reporting requirements to ensure the school system's compliance; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Prince George’s County Public Schools and the local, state and national mental health agencies and organizations providing services to youth and families;
  • Knowledge of Prince George’s County Public Schools procedures, especially crisis response, suicide intervention and behavior threat assessment;
  • Knowledge of state laws pertaining to suicide intervention and behavior threat assessment;
  • Skilled in working with students experiencing significant social, emotional and behavioral issues;
  • Excellent human relations, problem solving, as well as oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to use computer technology in an administrative and educational setting to manage meetings and all aspects of work assignments;
  • Ability to interpret complex compliance standards and ensure district adherence;
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency; and
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and to function effectively in multiple environments.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, clinical mental health, school psychology or a related field required.  A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience providing mental health supports (counseling, psychology, social work) in schools.  A minimum of (3) years of demonstrated administrative district leadership with experience in leading crisis response teams, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs; establishing and managing community partnerships. Experience in strategic planning and delivering workshops in the areas of suicide prevention, behavior threat assessment and trauma awareness preferred; experience writing state and federal grants  and requests for proposal (RFP) preferred.

Certification:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or similar licensure/certification preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversees and provides guidance and direction to assigned personnel.
