Dear Parents/Guardians:

With the demands of work and life, Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) is aware of the necessity of high-quality before and after school programs to many families.

Unfortunately, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the ability of our Before and After School Extended Learning Program (BASELP) to generate the necessary revenue to maintain our workforce and operating expenses. While we were able to support our staff during the early part of this crisis with reserve funds, that funding source has now been depleted, mandating a transition of BASELP staff to existing positions in the school system beginning March 1, 2021.

We do not anticipate any disruption in services to you and your family for the 2021-22 academic year. The school system will soon release a Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify qualified child care vendors. The process is expected to be complete by August 2021. Once vendors are selected, PGCPS will notify you of their services and assigned schools.
