My name is Belinda Johnson and I am the Community School Coordinator with Prince George's County Department of Social Services. Primarily responsible for implementation, integration, and alignment with the State of Maryland's establishment of community schools and Prince George's County Public School's community schools policy. I work collaboratively with the principal and school and community-based stakeholders to coordinate expanded learning opportunities and wraparound services to students and families at North Forestville Elementary School.  My services include: assessing school, family and community needs and assets; helping to reduce barriers to student achievement; promoting increased academic outcomes; and fostering family stability. Therefore; being able to promote positive outcomes for students, families, and the school community.

Reasons to refer students to Community School Coordinator: If a student is experiencing in-school and out-of school barriers that prevent them from learning and succeeding such as:

  • Anger/ Aggression
  • Attendance
  • Academic Concerns
  • Behavioral Concerns
  • Mentoring
  • Health Care Concerns
  • Economic Support( Food / Shelter/ Transportation)
  • Grief or loss
  • Bullying
  • Social Skills/ Life Skills
  • Child Abuse, Neglect
  • Family Conflict
  • Career and College Readiness
