PGCPS Back-To-School Guide 2023

Things to Do

  • Read Dr. Lynch's Back to School Letter for everything you need to know to kick off the 23-24 School Year!
  • Share your opinion! Complete our Back to School Parent Survey.
  • School Meals Update:

    >>Breakfast and lunch are free to all students at Kettering Elementary this school year.

Kettering is now a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. CEP is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications.

What does it mean for our school?

    >>Breakfast and lunch are free to all students.
    >>More nourished students to improve academic performance.
    >>Meal benefit applications are not collected for students enrolled in CEP schools.
    >>All students enrolled in CEP school are entitled to all benefits and services afforded to students who are eligible for free meals.
    >>Students will be required to use their lunch account PIN# number for meal service.

  • Apply to volunteer at school. Having enough approved parent volunteers is necessary for the success of many of our school programs, such as Field Trips. Previously approved volunteers must reapply each school year. The fingerprint background check and Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance is a one-time requirement for all volunteers. The SafeSchools training must be completed annually.
  • Need shots for school? Register for an upcoming back-to-school immunization clinic.
  • Make sure you have access to your SchoolMax Family Portal account or register for a new account if your student is new to PGCPS (registration and enrollment must be complete before an account can be created). This is also where you can find out your students bus assignment if they qualify for transportation. To learn more about transportation eligibility click here
