Procedures for Delayed Openings and Early Closings for Before and After School Extended Learning Program and Centers

Before and After School Extended Learning Program (BASELP) Guidelines

Full-Day

• When there is a one-hour delay opening of schools, BASELP will open at 8:00 a.m. If a two-hour delay, BASELP will open at 9:00 a.m.
• When there is a one-hour early closing of schools, BASELP will close at 5:00 p.m. If a two-hour early closing, BASELP will close at 4:00 p.m.
• If a decision is made to cancel all after school and evening activities or classes, BASELP will close at 4:00 p.m.
• If a specific school is closed, BASELP at this school site will be closed. Parents will be notified.
• If a specific school is re-located for the regular school hours, students are returned to that school for dismissal, and BASELP will close at 3:00 p.m. Parents will be notified.

Half-Day

• If a school has an unscheduled half-day early closing, BASELP will close at        3:00 p.m. Parents will be notified.
• If a school has a scheduled half-day early closing, BASELP will operate on its regularly scheduled closing time at 6:00 p.m.

Early Childhood Centers/Prekindergarten Guidelines

Full-Day

Full-day prekindergarten and full-day four year old students will adhere to the normal school system policies for openings, closings, and early dismissals.

Half-Day 

Prekindergarten, half-day three year old preschool, and toddler students.

• When there is a scheduled half day, no half-day prekindergarten, preschool, and toddler students will attend a.m. or p.m. sessions.
• When there is a two-hour delay in the morning, no half-day prekindergarten, preschool, and toddler students will attend a.m. or p.m. sessions.
• If schools are closed early due to inclement weather, the p.m. prekindergarten, preschool, and toddler students do not attend. The a.m. prekindergarten and preschool students stay later and ride regular p.m. buses home. A lunch will be provided.
• When there is a scheduled early dismissal, no half-day prekindergarten, preschool, and toddler students will attend.
