How to Enroll Your Child in PreK or Kindergarten for the 2025–26 School Year
Enrollment is now open for Prekindergarten (PreK) and Kindergarten for the 2025–26 school year! Whether your child is just starting school or getting ready for their next big milestone, now is the time to register and secure your spot.
Prekindergarten (PreK): What You Need to Know
PGCPS offers full-day PreK programs for children who will turn four years old on or before September 1, 2025. These programs help build the foundation for school success by focusing on early literacy, math, social-emotional development, and more.
Important Details:
- PreK is available only to students who live within the boundary of a participating school.
- Classes are limited to 20 students and follow the bell schedule of the assigned school.
- Enrollment is based on income eligibility. Families who exceed the income limits will be placed on a waitlist and considered for open seats starting in mid-September.
- In addition to school-based PreK programs, PGCPS is partnering with private providers to offer free PreK for eligible three- and four-year-olds. A full list of participating providers will be shared once finalized by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
How to Apply for PreK:
- Check Pre-K sites available through PGCPS.
- Apply online through ParentVUE or make an appointment at your boundary school.
- Upload required documents:
- Child’s birth certificate
- Immunization records
- Proof of residency (current lease or deed plus two official mail items)
- Two current pay stubs for each parent/guardian in the household
