Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) is accepting applications for the Commission on Naming/Renaming Schools and Facilities, Dedicating Areas of Schools, and Erecting Monuments.
The Naming Commission plays a vital role in ensuring that the names of our schools, facilities, and monuments reflect our community's values and meet established criteria. Members review recommendations submitted by PGCPS Naming Committees using a scoring rubric developed by the Prince George's County Council Responsible Legacy Task Force.
We are seeking individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of the needs of our community and schools. Ideal candidates may include local educators; individuals with expertise in cultural, educational, or community service; or representatives of culturally and ethnically diverse communities within Prince George's County.
Five residents will be appointed to serve, reflecting the diversity and demographics of our student population.
The Commission meets quarterly for planning and may convene more frequently as needed to complete its work.
If you are interested in serving your community in this meaningful way, we encourage you to apply.
