Empowering Student Leaders in Annapolis!

Student leaders from Bowie, Fairmont Heights, and DuVal High Schools recently visited the State House in Annapolis for the district’s annual Advocacy Day, which offers a firsthand look at the legislative process.

Special thanks to Delegates Diana Fennell, Nicole Williams, Kym Taylor, Adrian Boafo, Andrea Harrison, and Veronica Turner, as well as County Executive Aisha Braveboy, for sharing their inspiring perspectives on public service and leadership with our students.

The 2026 PGCPS Legislative Platform focuses on key priorities, including:

• Supporting students with disabilities.
• Strengthening achievement for multilingual learners.
• Modernizing school facilities.
• Ensuring safe learning environments.

New this year, students, staff, families and community members can now follow bills under consideration by the Maryland General Assembly and view the district’s official positions through our legislative tracking portal.
