Don't delay...It’s time to register your child for Prekindergarten (Pre-K) or Kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year! Get started today to secure your spot. Prekindergarten and Kindergarten registration will open on April 7, 2026. Families can submit registrations through June 1, 2026.
After June 1, registration will temporarily close and is expected to reopen in mid-July (exact date to be announced).
You must enroll by July 31 to ensure a school bus assignment for the first day of school!
Families with children who turn four years old on or before September 1, 2026 are eligible to apply for full-day Pre-K.
Note: Families who exceed the income eligibility will be placed on a waitlist and considered for available seats at the boundary school beginning September 16, 2026.
In addition to Pre-K programs offered in PGCPS schools, we are partnering with select private providers to offer free Pre-K seats for eligible three- and four-year-olds for the 2026–27 school year. A list of participating providers is available on our website.
Families with children who turn five years old on or before September 1, 2026 can register for Kindergarten.
If your child turns five between September 2 and October 15, 2026, you may apply for Early Entrance to Kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year. Online Early Entrance applications are open through June 1, 2026, with no exceptions.
Note: A PGCPS Student ID is required to submit an Early Entrance to Kindergarten application. Student ID requests should be made through ParentVUE by Wednesday, May 27, 2026 to ensure families are able to complete the Early Entrance to Kindergarten application by June 1, 2026.*
