Resources for Staff & Families Impacted by the Federal Government Shutdown

We recognize that the ongoing federal government shutdown is affecting many members of our community. Local, state and county resources are available to assist with food, housing, utilities, health care, mental health and other essential needs.

Meal Assistance

Families affected by furloughs or job changes may apply for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS) at any time during the school year. Apply online for the fastest processing or request a paper form from your child’s school.

Housing Support

A new Rental Housing Assistance Fund is available for Prince George’s County renters with children in PGCPS Community Schools. Learn more

Prince George’s County Resources 

Prince George’s County government’s Federal Government Shutdown Resources provides information on assistance with food, clothing and wellbeing services; programs to maintain electricity, gas and water services; information on filing for unemployment insurance benefits; rental and mortgage relief optionsjob training and placement services; and temporary financial assistance.

Residents can also contact 2-1-1 Maryland for food, housing, and crisis support.
