Vaping: Why We’re Talking About It Again

We recently partnered with our Safety and Security team and students at Charles H. Flowers High School to elevate an important conversation: why vaping and the risks associated with it still demand our attention.

Vaping incidents are rising, and the dangers are real. Many vaping products contain nicotine, a highly addictive substance that can harm brain development, impact mental health, and affect overall well-being.

Even more alarming, some vapes may be laced with substances like fentanyl—an extremely potent opioid where even a tiny, undetectable amount can be life-threatening, increasing the risk of overdose with a single use.

In our latest Public Service Announcement, students speak candidly about an even greater concern: vapes that may be laced with unknown and potentially deadly substances. The truth is, many users don’t know what they’re inhaling—and some substances don’t come with second chances.

Students share a powerful reminder: “You think it won’t happen to you—until it does.” Their message is clear—we all have too much to lose.

Families play a critical role. Take time to check in, ask questions, and keep conversations open, honest, and judgment-free.

Together, we can raise awareness, support our students, and reinforce a simple truth: vaping is not worth the risk.
