Beacon Heights Elementary School Performance Plan

Introduction
In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

Problem of Practice
One problem the school has chosen to address that will assist them in moving toward the overarching Smart Goal
Teachers are not effectively and consistently using data to inform MTSS Tiers and instructional steps in mathematics. As a result, students are not consistently being exposed to instructional activities that are aligned to students' specific skill gaps or strengths. This leads to mismatched supports, delayed interventions, and limited progress monitoring. Teachers are not effectively and consistently using Progress Monitoring Data to inform MTSS Tier groups and instructional steps in RELA.
Change Idea
A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal
Increase teacher effectiveness in using data to plan and implement targeted small-group instruction aligned to MTSS tiers in mathematics. To increase teacher effectiveness in using data to plan and implement targeted small-group instruction aligned to MTSS tiers in mathematics.
Target
The AIM set to determine if the implementation of the change idea was successful
During school year 2025-2026, 100% of the Math teachers in grades 1- 5 will demonstrate the implementation of data driven instruction by use of small group in order to increase student achievement in the area of Operations and Algebraic Thinking by the end of first quarters. During school year 2025-2026, 100% of the RELA teachers in grades 1- 5 will demonstrate the implementation of data driven instruction by use of small groups in order to increase student achievement in the area of Reading and Writing by the end of first quarter. By the end of 2025-26 school year, the percent of students "Meeting the Expectations" on the Reading Benchmark will increase by 5%
