International High School at Langley Park School Performance Plan

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

SMART Goals

A targeted

aspiration that serves as the focal point for collective improvement efforts

Specific; Measurable; Achievable; Realistic; Timebound

Math- By the end of SY26, at least 25% of Algebra 1 students with a WIDA score of 3.0 or higher will achieve a performance level of 2 or higher on the MCAP Algebra 1 exam.

RELA/ELA-By the end of SY26, 20% of ELA 10 students with a WIDA ACCESS score of 4.0 or higher will achieve a performance level of 2 or higher on the MCAP English 10 exam.

Not Selected-

Problem of Practice

One problem the school has chosen to address that will assist them in moving toward the overarching Smart Goal

In 2025-26, IHSLP students enter high school with an average of 1.8 years of US school experience, and with elementary school math grade-level knowledge and skills. The Internationals Network places more focus on project-based, experiential learning because it provides students with differentiated ways to show understanding. Not only do we need to build our students' endurance around formal standardized testing, but we are also in the process of changing staff culture around the importance of helping our students do better on state exams.

Change Idea

A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal

The teacher will model how to use the reasoning self-assessment rubric to answer MCAP-style reasoning items. The teacher is testing out a more student-friendly version of the reasoning rubric to help students understand what they must do to earn a higher score. Since all of our students are MLL, our

Our ELA 10 teachers will provide students with opportunities to practice MCAP-like reading passage questions. Our monitoring tool will help us identify if/how teachers are doing the teacher moves to help our students earn higher scores on language-dense reading passages.

teachers need to take MSDE and PGCPS tools and make them more accessible for our students.

Target

The AIM set to determine if the implementation of the change idea was successful

By November 21, 2025, IHSLP colleagues will have observed Dr. Pagharion using the reasoning self-assessment rubric at least three times.

By November 21, 2025, 100% of our ELA 10 teachers will provide their students with at least two practice MCAP-like reading passage formative assessments.

25% of Algebra 1 students with a WIDA score above 3.0 will achieve a performance level of 2 or higher on the Algebra 2 Benchmark exam.

25% of English 10 students with a WIDA score above 4.0 will achieve a performance level of 2 or higher on the English 10 Benchmark exam.
