Prince George's County Board of Education Announces Resignation of Vice Chair Jonathan Briggs
Upper Marlboro, MD - The Prince George's County Board of Education announces that Vice Chair Jonathan Briggs, M.S.Ed., M.L.S., representative for District 2, has submitted his resignation from the Board of Education, effective June 30, 2026. The Board has accepted his resignation and extends its appreciation for his service to the students, families, educators, and residents of Prince George's County.
During his tenure, Mr. Briggs served as the elected representative for District 2 and most recently as Vice Chair of the Board of Education. The Board thanks him for his commitment and contributions in support of public education throughout his service.
"The Board of Education is grateful for his commitment to the students, families, and communities we serve. In the coming days, we will ensure a smooth transition and address any necessary matters. I remain confident in the Board's continued ability to serve Prince George's County Public Schools with excellence," said Board Chair Branndon D. Jackson.
In accordance with Maryland law, the vacancy for the District 2 Board of Education seat will be filled through the applicable appointment process. Information regarding the appointment timeline and any related procedures will be shared with the public as it becomes available.
