Brandywine K-8 School

Project Overview

The new Brandywine K–8 school is designed to accommodate 1,544 students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Located at the Gwynn Park Middle School site in the Brandywine neighborhood of Prince George’s County, the school design features flexible learning environments, specialized classrooms for science, art, and music, a modern media center, a full-size gymnasium, and dedicated wings for elementary and middle school students. Outdoor learning areas, age-appropriate play spaces, and athletic fields provide students with various opportunities to learn and play. Perkins Eastman Architects designed the school, and it will be built by MCN Build.

Blueprint Phase II Design

The architects for Phase II created two design options for the eight schools in this phase. Like in Phase I, using prototypes helps speed up construction and lower costs, so students and staff can enjoy updated facilities sooner. Each school will still have space to reflect its unique identity. The presentation below from Perkins Eastman explains the design choices. Take a look at the newest Blueprint School designs!
