Sonia Sotomayor Middle School at Adelphi

Sonia Sotomayor Middle School is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art, 144,000-square-foot facility in Adelphi, Maryland, designed to serve 1,200 students in grades 6–8. Built as part of the Blueprint Schools Phase 1 initiative, this $67 million project emphasizes safety, sustainability, and innovation with LEED Silver-equivalent features, STEAM labs, a video production studio, outdoor classrooms, and advanced security systems. The school is part of a public-private partnership that includes long-term maintenance, saving the district an estimated $235.9 million in deferred costs, while also exceeding Minority Business Enterprise participation goals.
