This course is designed to provide students access to the development of strategies for reading comprehension, vocabulary, language usage skills, and writing skills. Students will learn the skills to identify and analyze fiction and non-fiction literary texts. Students will engage in reading, writing, speaking and listening activities with real world application. This course is designed to facilitate alternate academic learning outcomes appropriate to the instructional needs of the student, as documented in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This course is linked to the general education curriculum; however, the student will require a different scope and sequence, adapted and modified materials.
