IB Chinese Ab Initio is a world language course designed for complete beginners. Students are prepared to use the language appropriately in a variety of settings. Each course develops students’ powers of expression in a second language, provides them with a resource for the study of other subjects, and brings them into contact with ways of thought that may differ from their own. Exercises in grammar, reading and writing, and culture are presented with such topics as hobbies and leisure activities, weather and climate, everyday life, food, shopping, travel, at home, transportation, the body and health, life and careers, and communication and media.
