Description:
Organic Chemistry S/T is an advanced level course in which students study the organic chemistry that occurs in biological systems. This course deals with the characteristics, molecular bonding, synthesis and reaction of most classes of organic compounds. The synthesis and metabolism of biochemical compounds are also included. There is a major concentration in the laboratory on the syntheses, purification, and verification of structure of organic compounds using classical and instrumental means. The course culminates with a major individualized student-directed laboratory analysis of an unknown compound.
