Course: Anatomy and Physiology (Systems Applications)

School Type:
High School
School Max Description:
Anatomy & Physiology
Content Area:
Science
Description:
Anatomy and Physiology is a laboratory-based course designed to provide students with opportunities to apply science and engineering practices and crosscutting concepts of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as they relate to human biological structure and function. Throughout this course, students will: describe relationships between the structure and function that exist within the integumentary, skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems, analyze how the integumentary, skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems help the body maintain homeostasis, arrange anatomical structures into the different levels of anatomical organization (e.g., cellular level or organ level), and investigate the impact of diseases on certain systems. Extensive laboratory investigations to include connections and applications to Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) and individual research will be required.
