Course: Art 8 - Sculpture & Ceramics
This semester course will emphasize the importance of craftsmanship in working with three-dimensional media. Clay, plaster, papier mache, wire, fibers, and other materials will be used to create works of art while exploring three-dimensional art concepts. Students will learn and develop an appreciation for the contributions of diverse peoples and cultures to America and participate in collaborative projects. The incorporation of thinking skills strategies in this course will increase students’ abilities to talk in depth about art as well as creatively solve problems of production. All students will be expected to maintain a journal/sketchbook. Emphasis will be placed on aesthetic qualities of three-dimensional art, developing proficiency in techniques, developing art vocabulary and safe handling of equipment.
