This course replaces Studio Assistantship (772003) and is updated and aligned with the MSDE Fine Arts Standards for Media Arts.
Students in this course mentor third-year students and continue to develop the aspects of digital storytelling, which includes: producing, directing, shooting and editing for the production of long term production projects, i.e., documentaries, video yearbooks, instructional videos, news magazines, film, news packages, podcast series, etc.
Seniors who have successfully completed the first three levels of Media Arts Production, but are ineligible to intern, or who opt to stay in the school building should register for this course. Although students registered for Media Arts Practicum are not reporting to a worksite, real-world projects, and deadlines should be set for assigned projects in order to prepare these students for the rigor of college, or career.
Students will be assessed on their written assignments, as well as their production activities. By Level IV, students have the tools to utilize the three phases of production to complete complex productions. It is the expectation that students will use prior knowledge as well as acquire new knowledge throughout this course.
