Aerospace Science 4/Leadership Education: (AFJROTC) consists of three options: Option 1: Management of the Cadet Corps: The cadets manage the entire Corps during the fourth year. This hands-on experience affords the cadets the opportunity to put the theories of previous leadership courses into practice. The cadets manage all the planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, controlling, decision-making, personal interaction, managerial, and organizational skills. Option 2: The Exploration of Space. It is designed to help students apply scientific concepts and principles discussed in the texts. The geography portion of the course adds to the basic knowledge of the Earth’s surface and the processes that shape it; of places and their connections to other places; and of the relationship between people and environments. The survival section presents “good to know” information that would be useful in any situation. Survival instruction will provide training in skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to successfully perform fundamental tasks needed for survival. Option 3: Global and Cultural Studies is a multidisciplinary course that introduces students to various regions of the world from a geographic, historical and cultural perspective. The course provides increased international awareness and insight into foreign affairs that permits a more educated understanding of other cultures and enhanced knowledge of America’s interests and role in the world. Geopolitical issues such as terrorism, economics, politics, military issues, migration of peoples and other cultural issues will be examined. The regional areas included in this course are Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
