This course is designed to provide students access to the study of the basic topics in the four core disciplines of science - Physics, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Environmental Science. Major concepts studied include motion, forces, energy, electromagnetic radiation, earth’s surface and interior, solar system, properties of matter, atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonds, acids and bases, carbon chemistry, interactions of organisms, diversity of live and environmental issues of the world. Students will be engaged in inquiry based activities, making real world connections to mathematics, history, technology and society. This course is designed to facilitate alternate academic learning outcomes appropriate to the instructional needs of the student, as documented in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This course is linked to the general education curriculum; however, the student will require a different scope and sequence, adapted and modified materials.
