2024 High School Summer Learning Program

 

Program Description

The High School Summer Learning Program offers students an opportunity to recover a previously failed credited course(s) and/or earn an original credit(s) towards fulfilling graduation requirements. The 2024 High School Summer Learning Program will provide four (4) different summer sessions: SESSION ONE will support all summer graduating seniors. Eligible students will be able to register for no more than (2) blended learning asynchronous courses. Students enrolled in Session One will model our current VLP Schedule of blended learning courses with teachers providing instructional support on both Monday and Wednesday evenings. SESSION TWO and SESSION THREE will support all grade levels, including graduating seniors. Eligible students will be able to register for no more than one (1) credit recovery per session. Students participating in Session Two and Session Three will receive synchronous, in-person, direct instruction each day over the course of two (2) weeks, Monday through Friday from a certified PGCPS teacher. SESSION FOUR will support all grade levels, including graduating seniors. Eligible students will be able to register for no more than one (1) original credit course; please note the approved original credit course offering list. Depending on the course offering, students participating in Session Four will receive synchronous and/or asynchronous instruction over the course of four (4) weeks, Monday through Thursday from a certified PGCPS teacher. Student Registration 

Students must complete and submit a registration form with assistance from the Professional School Counselor assigned from their SY 2023-2024 base school.  

Registration Dates:                                                                                                        

  • Session One: May 20 - June 12th, 2024 (Virtual; Summer Graduating Seniors Only)
  • Session Two: July 8 - July 19th, 2024 (On-site; Grades: 9th Grade Repeaters -12th graders; Credit Recovery Courses Only)
  • Session Three: July 22- August 2nd, 2024 (On-site; Grades 9th Grade Repeaters -12th graders; Credit Recovery Courses Only)
  • Session Four: July 8 - August 2nd, 2024 (Virtual; Grades 9-12; Original Credit Courses Only)                                    

 

In order to prepare for registration, students must be familiar with their PGCPS email login credentials (username & password). Parents are asked to register for or update their Family Portal account.  Email will be the primary mode of communication. Students should contact the technology representative of their base school if they need PGCPS Student email/login support.

  • NOTE: Although Summer Graduating Seniors are able to participate in all three sessions, all graduating seniors are highly encouraged to enroll in the first two sessions.

  • All 2024 High School Summer Learning Program students will be redirected to one of the following summer school sites based on their current boundary school. Once students register for their summer courses, the registration portal will list the selected summer school site. Please contact your Professional School Counselor for site information and additional support regarding where your assigned summer course will be held.
