UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Prince George’s County Board of Education Member Patricia Eubanks has resigned her District 4 seat, effective Monday, Sept. 30.

Eubanks has served on the school board since 2010. Her term was due to expire in 2020.

“I am pleased with the contribution that I was able to make to our effort to improve customer service, responses to stakeholders and our school system’s approach to addressing mental health issues among our students and employees,” stated Eubanks in her resignation letter. “I also place high value on the role that I was able to play in working with colleagues as the Board worked through very complex Board reorganizations and changes in the leadership of the school system.”

Board Chair Dr. Alvin Thornton expressed appreciation to Eubanks, noting her “sustained, dedicated and diverse” service to the county and state.

By law, when a board vacancy arises, the Prince George’s County Executive appoints an individual to fill the remainder of the term, with the County Council’s approval.

District 4 includes Cheverly, Bladensburg, Landover, Capitol Heights, Hyattsville and Glenarden.
