


Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy has appointed Dr. Shawn Joseph as the permanent superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). Joseph, who has served as Interim Superintendent since July 2025, will now formally lead the state’s second-largest school system following a year marked by budget stabilization, staffing improvements and expanded student opportunities.

Maryland is introducing revised PreK–8 mathematics standards for the 2026–27 school year. Join a virtual family information session to learn what’s changing and how to support your child’s success!
Tuesday, June 2 | 8 – 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 10 | Noon – 1:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 18 | 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 27 | 9:30 – 11 a.m.
Maryland will implement revised PreK-8 mathematics standards in the 2026-27 school year, accompanied by a statewide shift toward more structured and consistent student support practices. Families will learn what to expect in the upcoming year and explore tools such as the Numeracy Development Framework and Family Guides.
MSDE will be hosting virtual events in June 2026. Join us to learn about how families can use MSDE resources to support student learning at home.
