Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Associate Superintendent of Supporting Services will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the Division of Supporting Services, ensuring efficient and effective operation of all elements/programs. Areas of responsibility include Alternative Infrastructure Planning and Development (former P3 Office), Building Services (Maintenance and Plant Operations), Transportation, Central Garage, Capital Improvement, Food and Nutrition Services, Safety and Security Services, and Purchasing and Supply. The Associate Superintendent of Supporting Services must also assess the personnel needs of the school system, advise the Chief Operating Officer (COO), plan and organize issues and strategies, and interpret Board of Education policies and administrative procedures.
>Initiates and develops overall objectives for the division in concert with the district’s Strategic Plan; assesses needs, establishes procedures, develops specific objectives and strategies and implements the processes and procedures for the evaluation of each program;
Develops an operational framework for the division; establishes procedures for monitoring its operation and makes changes when necessary; maintains effective communication within the division and develops personnel for maximum efficiency and effectiveness;
Develops a budget based on an analysis of needs and awareness of availability of resources; develops priorities within budgetary limitations and approves and monitors the expenditure of funds;
Interprets and articulates Board policies and procedures to staff and recommends to the COO policies and procedures pertinent to the operation of the division within the system;
Provides ongoing performance management structures for all of the district’s supporting services offices/departments;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Considerable knowledge of public school administration;
Demonstrated ability to analyze data and provide alternative solutions to problems;
Familiarity and competence in the development and use of sophisticated data processing support of operating programs;
Broad knowledge in construction, budget and maintenance of facilities;
Thorough knowledge of architectural and engineering processes;
Familiarity with plant maintenance and operation, and fiscal management procedures;
Demonstrated leadership, communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational management;
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills;
Ability to assess supporting services policies and practices which promote an efficient and cohesive work environment; and
Experience in budget analysis and preparation.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive, hands-on management experience required, preferably within the education and/or service sector. Previous experience in the areas of supporting services for a school system preferred.

Work schedules may include evenings and weekends. Incumbent may be required to work beyond normal hours with little or no advanced notice. Driver’s License is required inasmuch as there will be a need to travel to sites throughout the school district.
