Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of the Office of Employee Performance (OEP), the Coordinating Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, managing, supervising, and enhancing the district’s professional growth system to ensure the effectiveness and integrity of employee evaluations. The incumbent will be a strategic partner and expert in the guidance on performance management, leadership/supervision development, and workforce planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and supports the implementation of the employee performance evaluation systems, ensuring alignment with state, district and department standards, goals and policies;
  • Develops and leads professional learning opportunities related to leadership and employee evaluation development;
  • Collaborates with directors, supervisors and specialists on employee performance needs;
  • Works closely with Information Technology and Human Resources to manage technical aspects of the evaluation platforms and ensure data accuracy;
  • Represents the department at meetings, including Board of Education meetings, and conferences to give and receive information:
  • Provides direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring to assigned staff by conducting regular one-on-one check-ins, performance evaluations, feedback opportunities and professional planning;
  • Writes and disseminates communication documents including newsletters, brochures, compilation reports, internal and external memoranda, surveys, profiles, evaluations, and concept papers:
  • Assists the Director in the selection/recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of assigned personnel;
  • Builds an understanding of the Maryland Blueprint, COMAR regulations, union negotiations, PGCPS Strategic Plan and human resources policies;
  • Serves in the absence of the Director when requested, communicating department directives and serving as a liaison to the school system and other agency personnel;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Maryland Blueprint, Human Resource policies, Standard Operating Policies (SOPs) and PGCPS Strategic Plan;
  • Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions and devis practical recommendations for action;
  • Highly skilled in verbal and written communication to convey a wide variety of information to diverse audiences in an understandable and acceptable manner, using a variety of methods;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint) and Google applications;
  • Ability to lead and guide diverse groups of people through problem solving;
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions;
  • Ability to work with clients at all levels within an organization; excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Actively leads in a manner that moves the team toward the completion of goals; places higher priority on team or organizational goals than own goals; and
  • Proactively works in partnership with others to achieve a common goal or necessary objectives; builds rapport and cooperative relationships with others.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, supervision or a related program of study required; Doctorate degree preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience required.

Certification:

Holds or is eligible for certification/licensure appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.  Framework for Teaching Certification preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversees and provides guidance and direction to assigned personnel.
