Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Digital and Visual Communications, this position is primarily responsible for digital engagement in support of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). The Digital and Visual Communications Specialist will enhance video communications, social media initiatives and related efforts.
Create social media campaigns in support of brand and marketing initiatives that engage prospects and effectively communicate the value of PGCPS;
Create video and graphic content for social media;
Contribute creative design and development, production and editing skills and expertise to video communications projects;
Use online tools and other metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of digital communications and engagement efforts;
Participate in brainstorming sessions, presentations, and team meetings; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
Successful work experience in social media tools, photo and video editing software, and web content management and design resources;
Demonstrated skills in complex communications issues involving multiple audiences, critical deadlines, and intricate logistical planning;
Skill in respectful and sensitive communication with people at all levels within an organization who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities;
Strong working knowledge of web platforms, HTML, email and other web-related skills;
Ability to multi-task and work in a team setting;
Ability to define and meet deadlines;
Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and/or other design software, and Final Cut Pro or similar software; and
Familiarity with AP style.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Radio/TV and Film, Journalism, or a related field; with one to two years related experience; any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
