Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, the Digital Workspace Engineer provides technical support to schools and administrative offices through the management and oversight of endpoint computing devices across the PGCPS network, including the implementation and support of software updates, antivirus protection, cybersecurity patching, and imaging, deployment and maintenance of all Chromebooks, Windows and Mac devices. The incumbent of this position also provides advanced support and professional development to technicians on endpoint-related support issues. Assignments are received through conferences, written, instructions/requests affording latitude in independent judgment and action in the performance of duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the testing, implementation and support of software updates and maintenance of Chromebooks, Windows devices and macOS devices;
- Supports the development and implementation of new digital workplace technologies within a large systems environment by advising on design concepts and changes, implementation strategies and deployment timelines;
- Manages the SentinelOne and/or related cybersecurity endpoint detection and response applications, and ensures 100% deployment on all computers in PGCPS at all times;
- Manages the school system’s imaging infrastructure through Windows Deployment Services, Windows Autopilot, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), and Apple’s Automated Device Enrollment (ADE);
- Manages the school system’s RemoteApps infrastructure for legacy applications;
- Manages Chrome OS policies, software deployments and provides Tier III support to schools and administrative offices;
- Manages Duo Security and/or related multi-factor authentication systems, and provides support for secure remote connectivity and identity protection;
- Documents procedures, troubleshooting guides and “how to” materials for operational consistency, continuous improvement and training of staff;
- Collaborates with cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities and recommends critical patches and/or updates;
- Drives endpoint modernization by implementing Microsoft LAPS, transitioning to cloud-first authentication, and migrating to secure, cloud-optimized infrastructure;
- Provides Tier III endpoint support for escalated technical issues;
- Manages windows file shares, including associated security groups within Active Directory environments; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows 10, Windows 11, current macOS versions and Chrome OS;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Apple Business Manager and Google Admin Console;
- Strong working knowledge of macOS, iOS, Android and mobile device management (MDM) solutions;
- Extensive knowledge with Ethernet and wireless networks;
- Knowledge and experience in the configuration of routers and switches;
- Knowledge and experience with computer imaging;
- Knowledge and experience with Linux/Unix;
- Knowledge and experience in the configuration of file servers;
- Ability to maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues;
- Ability to troubleshoot, take initiative and resolve issues with minimal supervision;
- Demonstrated training skills;
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; and
- Excellent human relation skills.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology or a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience required. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in any combination of the following areas may be considered: endpoint management, hardware repair, software deployment, training in device imaging, or LAN/WAN administration.
Certification:
Microsoft Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, CompTia Security+ (or similar cybersecurity certification), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
