Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, the Financial Analyst performs responsible duties in the planning and preparation of the annual budget, and in the analysis and control of the expenditure budget for the Board of Education Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and analyzes board-related budgets, including discretionary and program-specific allocations;
- Provides tailored support to board members on how to navigate the budget process, including timelines, legal constraints, and procedures for proposing budget amendments;
- Prepares user-friendly budget summaries and guidance materials for board members;
- Tracks proposed board amendments and advises on fiscal impact, alignment with district priorities, and procedural requirements;
- Collaborates with the central budget and finance departments and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of accurate budget information;
- Ensures all guidance and processes are compliant with applicable laws, board policies, and financial regulations;
- Supports the Board of Education Office in evaluating accounting and administrative procedures;
- Serves as a liaison between the budget and finance departments and the Board of Education Office clarifying budget procedures and related accounting and purchasing methods and procedures; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of relevant board policies, state/local budget laws, and procedures governing school district finance principles and practices;
- Familiar with research and statistical principles, methods and procedures applicable to budgeting and accounting;
- Knowledge of public sector budgeting process and requirements;
- Ability to analyze, interpret and report research findings, and recommendations;
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; and
- Must possess strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google applications.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in finance, accounting, public administration, business administration, or a related field required. A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience required; previous experience in public education preferred.

None required.
