The HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic II is responsible for supervising and performing the more difficult technical tasks involved in operating, maintaining, installing and repairing a variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. The incumbent must read and interpret performance charts and control panels which reflect the efficiency of each piece of equipment in the system. This position performs work according to general or specific instructions, following guidelines for operations found in technical orders, manufactures’ manuals, plans, specifications and instructions received from the Shop Coordinator. The employee’s work is reviewed daily through reports, logs and conferences with the supervisor.
High school graduate supplemented by completion of a recognized apprenticeship or trade school and at least two-years' experience at the HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic I level; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Possession of a commercial CFC Universal certification required. Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle operator’s license with driving record indicating five (5) fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.
Acts as crew leader as assigned.
