Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor, the Instructional Specialist provides administrative management of guidelines and procedures for the implementation of Homeless, Home Schooling and Home and Hospital Teaching services to ensure alignment with state and federal regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Provides strategic direction, collaboration and support services to administrators, school staffs, and central office personnel for the implementation of Homeless, Home Schooling and Home and Hospital Teaching services;

Facilitates and monitors the adherence of Administrative Procedures 5010, 5011 and 5013.5 by school staff/administrators and other system personnel;

Plans, manages, evaluates and adjusts service delivery models to effectively and efficiently meet student needs for Homeless, Home Schooling and Home and Hospital Teaching Services; 

Develops forms, documents and procedures pertinent to the homeless, home schooling and home and hospital teaching processes;

Provides leadership and administrative support to FTEs assigned to the Homeless,  Home Schooling, and Home and Hospital Teaching Offices;

Establishes office structures and processes that facilitate effective record management, data analysis and systems of communication;

Provides leadership in the selection, training, scheduling, and supervision of temporary employees assigned to the Homeless, Home Schooling, and Home and Hospital Teaching Offices;

Monitors the use of resources, including staff, temporary employees, funding, and, equipment to ensure the most efficient and effective service delivery;

Prepares technical reports for state, PGCPS executive and administrative personnel, and/or School Board Officers;

Uses highly effective skills, including the use of applicable software, to support conflict resolution, investigation and problem solving, and resolution of parent/community concerns related to Home Schooling and Home and Hospital Teaching;

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, five (5) years successful teaching experience and a minimum of three years successful leadership experience. 

Certification:

Administration I Certificate required; Advanced Professional Certificate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee temporary employees assigned to the Homeless Education, Home Schooling and Home and Hospital Teaching Offices.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
