Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor, the Information Technology Technician I will provide Help Desk and Tier I onsite computer/network support for schools and offices within Prince George's County Public Schools. The incumbent will work closely with other IT technicians and engineers in accordance with Information Technology standards and policies to provide excellent customer support to schools and offices.
Troubleshoots and resolves Tier I computer and internet connectivity issues for schools and offices;
Installs and/or troubleshoots computer-related and peripheral devices (video, sound, modem, printer, scanner, camera, etc.);
Installs and configures network equipment;
Provides high quality Help Desk and onsite Tier I end-user support;
Ensures all Help Desk tickets are documented and followed up for resolution;
Provides research and knowledge-base documentation;
Assists other field and Help Desk based technicians as needed;
Provides assistance and support to IT Technician IIs, IT Technician IIIs and the Lead Technical Training Manager/Engineer to resolve Tier I issues; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
Fundamental knowledge of Windows operating systems, Google suite, Oracle End User Application, Microsoft Office, Asset Management System (AMS) and Mac OSX;
Fundamental knowledge of PC/server hardware repair, maintenance and OS installations;
Ability to work cooperatively as a team member;
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to prepare various reports for upper management;
Ability to follow standard operating procedures;
Excellent customer service and communication skills; and
Must be able to work individually and as a part of a team.
A high school diploma required; preferably supplemented with additional coursework and/or training in hardware and/or network repair. Two (2) years of related experience preferred.
